YouTube may launch its own subscription service in the near future. According to Billboard, the online video destination will take advantage of existing deals Google struck for Google Play Music All Access to get all the licenses needed for such a service. The report goes on suggesting that in addition to paid option, users will also be able to get something for free. The paid service will come with unlimited access to music videos (both on the web and mobile), no ads and some sort of offline listening.
While all this sounds nice, we are a bit confused why would Google launch another music playback service that would compete with its existing offering. Perhaps it will be tailored towards the fans of music videos, and perhaps there will be some sort of add-on option for existing All Access subscribers that would allow them to get access to music videos for few extra bucks per month. At this stage we can only wait and see what happens next…
