Google Glass 2? Hardware Upgrade on the Way and Glass Production Ramping Up!

The next generation of Google Glass is coming soon, and we’re that much closer to a consumer release. Google confirmed today that a hardware upgrade would be coming for its wearable tech. “Explorers”, the lucky few to get Glass, will be able to swap out their headsets for the new model. Also, each explorer will be given 3 Google Glass invites to give out, effectively quadrupling the amount of Google Glass out there in the wild!

The new version of Glass will sport a mono ear bud instead of the bone conduction speaker that the current model has. Google Glass 2 will also accommodate users who already wear prescription glasses. There will be models built onto prescription frames and “future lines of shades.” Explorers can begin swapping out their Glass for the new model in November.

Google also announced what is probably even bigger news, that Google Glass Explorers will get three invites to give to their friends. Google’s wearable tech is going to be in a lot more hands (well, on a lot more heads) soon. An unnamed source close to Google also claimed a “substantial” raise in manufacturing for Google Glass.

All signs are pointing to a wide release of Google Glass coming sometime soon. Unconfirmed reports have claimed that a mysterious container floating in the San Francisco will be a Google Glass retail location. This may seem a little far-fetched, but who knows?
