Selling own-brand smartphones apparently works for Orange when it keeps pushing this agenda forward. In “response to customer demand for sophisticated smartphones at a more accessible price,” the carrier unveiled two new members of the Orange family of devices – Orange Yumo and Orange Hiro.

The first of the two is a 4G-enabled smartphone with specs that include a 5-inch screen, 8-megapixel camera, 1.2GHz dual-core chip and 8GB of expandable storage. The Yumo will debut in Spain and Romania.

As for the Orange Hiro, it will be “one of Orange’s most affordable Android smartphones yet” and will be available in France, Spain, Slovakia and Romania. Specs wise, this model comes with a 4.3-inch screen (WVGA?), 5-megapixel camera, and a 1.3GHz dual-core processor.

Orange failed to mention the prices of the two phones and their exact launch dates. We are, however, confident these missing pieces will be known in the next few days or weeks.

Orange-branded smartphones are one of the fastest growing brands sold by Orange across its footprint. During the summer, the Orange Daytona smartphone sold 50% more than any other phones offered by the carrier in Spain, whether feature phones or smartphones, outselling all other mobile brands. Likewise, the Orange Nivo was the best-selling smartphone in Romania, driving a significant jump in smartphone adoption in that country.
