It is said that we won’t be waiting for too long to see the first Tizen-powered device. However, such product may not be a smartphone nor TV, but a smart camera.

During the Tizen Developer Summit in Seoul, South Korea, the company confirmed the first Tizen-powered device will be the NX300M camera. According to Samsung, this fact will allow the company to improve boot time of the camera two times, while at the same time improving the camera performance.

Samsung also announced that the first Tizen smartphone will finally be launched in the first quarter of next year, running OS version 2.2.1. In other words, we should see it officially announced either at CES in Las Vegas or Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Going forward, Tizen 3.0 is expected in the third quarter, bringing along multi-user and support for 64-bit architecture, 3D UI framework, and smaller footprint.
