Even though BlackBerry 10.2 isn’t widely available, the Canadian company is already experimenting with its successor, OS version 10.2.1.

We’re not sure when this incremental increase in platform version will be released, but we do have few details to share. Here’s what we’ve got:

  • There will be a new incoming call screen, which will allow users to swipe right to answer and left to reject (instead of swiping down to answer and up to reject).
  • The Quick settings menu will eliminate some of the less used functions, while adding new ones, like quick torch toggle.
  • BB 10.2.1 will also allow users to install Android apps straight from the file system via a new Android Player.
  • Improved push notifications that don’t require an app to be running in memory.
  • Support for “Headless apps” that take advantage of the full screen.

Again, we’re not sure when these updates will be released and can only hope this will be a short wait. We’ll let you know if/when we hear something new on this…
