ComponentOne’s Studio for iPhone helps .NET developers make web apps for iPhone/iPod Touch

ComponentOne - Studio for iPhone

In an effort to bring .NET developers to the Apple iPhone/iPod Touch platform, ComponentOne has released a suite of Microsoft ASP.NET controls named Studio for iPhone. The application suite is designed to assist developers in making iPhone web (as opposed to native) apps, and it includes navigation lists, calendars, views, tab bars, cover flow, and various controls, such as buttons and sliders. Developers can also use elements from the iPhone UI such as animation, portrait or landscape views, and touch navigation…

And while this is far from a native application support, it’s still a great move by ComponentOne. Despite the fact that there are quite a few applications in the AppStore, personally I still use two web-based apps – GMail and Bloglines. Maybe I’m in the minority, but I like the “real-time look and feel” of it.

Anyway, ComponentOne will include Studio for iPhone in its Studio Enterprise offering, which retails for $1100 per developer seat. More information about this offer is available from ComponentOne’s website.
