Apple has completed its acquisition of Israel-based company focused on 3-D sensor technology, PrimeSense. According to AllThingsD, the Cupertino giant paid around $360 million for the privilege, though it (yet again) failed to mention what will it used this tech for. The similar situation was with PrimeSense, which too couldn’t comment on the acquisition.

We do know that PrimeSense’ technology is made to capture motion, but since we’re not seeing Apple entering the gaming console market, it’s likely they plan to integrate a bits of this into the forthcoming Apple TV. Or perhaps some future iPhone or iPad.

PrimeSense became widely known in the sensor technology space for its early work with Microsoft’s Kinect gaming product. In later years, the company has expanded its product line to include more hardware than the original large, stationary sensor seen in the Kinect, creating new, smaller sensors targeted at more compact devices. So at the end of the day, something like this could be included in some Apple mobile device. Or so we hope. We’ll make sure you don’t miss a beat… Stay tuned…
