We’ve already told you that Casio is getting ready to compete in the smart watch space and voila – their first such device is out now.
Rocking the familiar G-Shock look & feel, the Casio G-Shock STB-100 is waterproof and can track your workout progress, including pace, distance, time, pulse, cycle speed and even pedal rotations with a cadence sensor. Plus, you get to use it to control the music playback.
The watch will initially connect to a limited number of apps like Abvio’s Runmeter, Walkmeter and Cyclemeter plus Wahoo Fitness, with support for some other apps arriving at a later date.
However, and this is what makes Casio’s smart watch better than competing products, the STB-100’s battery promises to deliver full two years of operation. You got that right, unlike other smart watches that often require charging on a weekly basis (if not every second/third day), Casio’s baby doesn’t need charging at all. After two years, you can simply replace the battery and you’re good to go. Love how that sounds and I’m sure many G-Shock fans will love it even more. As far as I’m concerned, my wrists are too tiny for these kinds of watches. ;(
