Stop the presses. This isn’t a rumor, it’s pretty much official though we don’t have the press release. The information comes right from the horse’s mouth, Samsung’s mobile VP Lee Young Hee.

In an interview with Bloomberg, he said that a slimmer Galaxy Gear will be announced alongside the Galaxy S5. His own words are as following:

When we release our S5 device, you can also expect a Gear successor with more advanced functions, and the bulky design will also be improved.

These advanced functions will include additional health-care capabilities that will work in pair with a dedicated app, most likely S-Health.

“Health-care related functions will be the most inherently tied functions to future wearables,” Lee said. “We see a very big potential from there.”

But that’s not all. The Korean giant will also launch “one more thing” by the end of the year, and PhoneArena thinks this could be Sammy’s own smart glasses product. We do think Samsung doesn’t want to miss this big wave and will either launch its own such device or acquire an existing company making smart glasses. Yet again, we have an interesting 12 months ahead. 😉
