Google’s Android platform distribution numbers keep getting updated on a monthly basis. The latest figures, derived from the list of devices that have accessed the Google Play Store in a seven-day period, show that handset makers keep rolling out new firmware updates though the latest Android build, KitKat, still has a long road ahead to reach the majority of users.
According to Google, KitKat has made a small jump from 1.1% to 1.4%; and so did Jelly Bean, growing from 54.5% to 59.1%. Meanwhile, other Android versions continue their decline: Gingerbread from 24.1% to 21.2%, Ice Cream Sandwich – 18.6% to 16.9%, Froyo – from 1.6% to 1.3%, whereas Honeycomb hangs tight at 0.1%.
