LG has officially announced two new color versions of its G2 smartphone. The already leaked gold version will be joined by its red counterpart, though unfortunately we don’t know when these variants will be available in the West.

The Korean company will start selling the red and gold G2 in its own backyard, asking the same amount of money it asks for the “regular” black and white models. In addition, they are also preparing for a launch in Singapore this Saturday (January 18th). There, the phone will be available from Starhub, SingTel and M1 for SGD 898 (around $700).

Aside from a fresh paint job, these two color variants also sport a textured back cover, which is not fingerprint prone while offering better grip in your hand.

Now we’re sure LG wants to bring the gold and red G2 to the U.S. and Europe, but as I’m writing this – we’ve no idea when that will happen. We’ll be on the lookout for new information and let you know as soon as we have something new to add. Stay tuned…
