Say you own Verizon’s Droid DNA and say you want it to run the latest version of Android. You can now do that, though you’ll need some tech skills.

As you would imagine, this isn’t the official update and you’ll rather have to “manually” cram KitKat to your Droid DNA smartphone. As part of the deal, you’ll also get HTC’s Sense UI version 5.5, which will make the DNA look like the One.

The firmware is described as stable, running on the Linux 3.4.18 kernel. The ROM does not come pre-rooted, but this shouldn’t be a problem because you can simply root it after installation. Offered are both CDMA and GSM device support, and there are three downloads provided: an odexed build, a deodexed build, and a patch to get CDMA working.

Again, you should know what you’re doing before taking this route. If you like to experiment, proceed to this page at XDA Developers forums to get all the details. Bear in mind that something could always go wrong and you could end-up with a bricked device. You can’t hold IntoMobile responsible if that happens…
