HTC wearable device coming later this year?

HTC is apparently working to join the wearable device market later this year.

In an interview with Bloomberg, the company’s CEO and head of global sales Chang Chialin noted that he’s looking forward for a more successful 2014. Here’s what he said about HTC’s wearable device plans: “Many years ago we started looking at smartwatches and wearables, but we believe that we really have to solve the battery problems and the LCD light problems… these are customer-centric problems.”

Chialin wasn’t too specific so we’re not sure whether we should expect a smart watch of smart glass product. Chances are the Taiwanese company is working on the former, though you never know – perhaps we see some kind of “One Glass” unveiled in the second half of the year.

In the meantime, we expect HTC to release a successor to the HTC One, which will reportedly rock a bigger screen, on-screen buttons and a pair of cameras on the back.

What do you expect from an HTC smart watch? Could it be a Pebble or Galaxy Gear killer?
