On the heels of the recent Chromebox device launches (by ASUS and HP), Google announced Chromebox for meetings, an integrated hardware and service offering that makes video conferences a snap.

The hardware consists of an ASUS Chromebox, a 1080p webcam (made by Logitech?), a wireless speakerphone / microphone combo and a wireless remote; while the service offering includes a year of 24/7 management and support. All this could be yours for $999, and you’ll also need to provide a display (which isn’t included in the price).

This setup starts a video conference with the push of a button on the provided remote. Colleagues with Chromeboxes on the other end of the line can join instantly, while those with other systems can call in to your Hangout with a tool from Vidyo, or dial in on the phone with UberConference.

As an enterprise product, Chromebox for meetings isn’t available for online purchase. Instead, interested businesses will have to contact a sales representative, but Google says that CDW and SYNNEX are helping with distribution…
