Microsoft has quietly started sharing Windows Phone 8.1 preview to select group of developers. We’re not sure who’s on the list, but chances are we’re talking about big boys here, which would include companies like Facebook, EA, Evernote, Gameloft and so on.

The official launch of the platform is set for April, when Redmond giant will use its Build developer conference to share the good news, along with all the tools developers could possibly need to make Windows Phone apps.

Meanwhile, Microsoft will be holding a confidential “meet the new Windows Phone” event for close partners in London on February 28th. During that time, attendees will get to learn about the roadmap and many of the upcoming features Windows Phone 8.1 will include.

Speaking of these features, it is said that this upcoming release will pack a full-blown Notification Center, “Cortana” personal assistant, major API changes, as well as improvements to volume controls, a feature to mirror Windows Phone screens to TVs or monitors, and access to quick settings from the new Action Center.

Yeah, it’s about time Windows Phone gets a revamp. 😉
