HTC is reportedly to release a new mid-range phablet device soon, the Desire 8. While specs and other details have not yet been officially confirmed, we have a pretty good idea what HTC will have in store for us. We saw a leaked render picture last week, and HTC seems to have confirmed that with the release of some new pictures.

The new pictures posted on HTC’s Weibo page show us that the new phablet will indeed be named the Desire 8, and will rock the same form factor that was spotted in a leaked picture last week.

The screenshot of from the Desire 8 gives us the date of February 24th, which is quite plausibly the release date of the Desire 8. While rumors thus far have pointed to a Chinese release, MWC in Barcelona will be taking place on February 24th, so chances of seeing the Desire 8 phablet pop up at MWC are a big possibility.

Specs wise, the Desire 8 will reportedly rock a 5.5-inch screen of unknown resolution, front stereo speakers, 13-megapixel camera on the back and 5-megapixel front-facing camera with several beautification features. The device could provide dual-SIM capabilities and is said to tout on-screen buttons, like the upcoming M8 is expected to rock. The Desire 8 could come in multiple colors, such as white, red, yellow, orange and cyan.

Do you think the Desire 8 will help out HTC as they spiral out of the spotlight?
