iOS coming to Ferrari, Mercedes and Volvo vehicles?

Apple is about to expand the reach of its iOS platform beyond smartphones and tablets.

According to the recent Financial Times report, the Cupertino-based company has struck deals with Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo; and will officially launch the platform next week.

No other details are known yet, but if everything goes as planned – we’ll get the missing pieces within the next few days when we also expect to see this technology in action. We can imagine on-wheel commands and proper integration of iPhones and iPads within select vehicles, which will undoubtedly be offered with a premium. Apple could further spice things up by launching a dedicated Car Appstore from where future car owners will be able to buy apps that are safe to use while driving. We’ll see…
