HTC has started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Butterfly S smartphone, a few people at XDA Developers forum are saying.

According to their reports, the update is available over the air (OTA) and you’ll want to be connected to a fast Wi-Fi hotspot to grab it. After all, the firmware file weighs no less than 736MB, making downloads over cellular network impractical, to say the least. After applying the update, your Butterfly S will run software version 3.06.708.3 and Android 4.4.2.

As that’s usually the case with HTC-made devices, aside from the changes included in the Android OS itself, you’ll also get few tweaks in HTC’s own software that should further improve the user experience.

If you own the HTC Butterfly S and still haven’t seen the update, don’t worry. These sort of things are usually rolled out in stages, so your turn may come in the next few days. Now that some users are getting it, we’re sure everyone will be served soon. 😉
