We can’t say we’re really surprised to see the special, dual-SIM version of the Galaxy S5 being unveiled in China. Samsung did this in the past, though we always hoped such model will eventually hit the Western hemisphere. Alas, as I’m writing this – that hasn’t happened.
Anyway, the dual-SIM Galaxy S5 does come with few downsides. For one thing, it doesn’t support 4G LTE connectivity. Rather, it’s stuck to 3G speeds while that 3G relies on CDMA2000 standard, which is used by China Telecom; the other slot can take regular GSM SIM cards.
Rest of the specs are unchanged and include a 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM, 16-megapixel camera on the back, all of which are packed in a IP67-certified body that make the phone water-resistant.
When it comes to the price, Samsung will sell this dual-SIM Galaxy S5 for 5,299 Yuan, which is the amount that translates into some $850. No word whether some similar, dual-SIM Galaxy S5 version will be released in other markets…
