Samsung has secured another Gear trademark, Gear Clock, and yet again we’ve no idea what they’ll use this brand for. As far as we (don’t) know this could be either a Tizen or Android Gear-powered device. Or could be something completely different like a regular wrist watch with smallish screen used for notifications a la Martian watches. Perhaps they opt for a round look and feel like Moto 360; perhaps not.
There’s also another truth about trademarks — just because some company secured a name, that doesn’t mean it will ever use it. It may want to make sure other companies don’t use it; or it may plan to use it in distant future.
For the time being, we’ll have to wait and see what Samsung’s up to. We are, however, confident the newly unveiled Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are just a start with more Samsung smart watches coming at a later date.
