Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for the international version of its Galaxy S4 Active smartphone. The “process” has started in the Netherlands but we’re sure other European countries will follow shortly, as well. Afterwards, we expect to see the new software reaching all corners of the world where the “tougher Galaxy S4” is sold.
Aside from the enhancements KitKat brings to the table, such as performance and battery life improvements, Samsung is also updating some of its own apps to make for a that much better user experience. Notable changes include full-screen album art, camera shortcut on the lock screen, wireless printing support, ability to set the default messaging and launcher apps, and more.
Firmware version I9295XXUCNE5 will be rolled over-the-air and via Samsung Kies software. If you still haven’t got it, you can manually cram this release by downloading the software from SamMobile’s website and flashing it to your Galaxy S4 Active. We suggest waiting for another few days or weeks, cause something could always go wrong with manual installations. It’s your call though; just don’t hold us responsible if you end up with a bricked device. 😉
