SwiftKey is now in version 5.0 and check this out – it’s now free to download. That’s right, SwiftKey is now offering its popular application for free, instead of $3.99 which used to be the app’s price.
Going forward, the company will make its money by selling keyboard themes for 99 cents per theme or $2.99 per 5-theme pack. Those who already paid for SwiftKey will get 10 themes for free.
Aside from the major price cut, the new version of SwiftKey also comes with a dedicated numbers row (you’ll need to enable it from Settings) and Emoji support that works on devices running Android 4.1 and higher.
I personally don’t care as much about Emoji but I love the dedicated numbers row.
Those of you who missed my earlier posts on SwiftKey should know it’s by far the best virtual keyboard app out there. There are other great keyboards — and getting better — but for the time being, I’m sticking to SwiftKey. It has all the features I could possibly need. 😉
