Samsung Galaxy S5 with Snapdragon 805 chip, LTE-A connectivity launching in South Korea on July 19th?

Samsung is apparently preparing to unveil a slightly beefed-up version of its current flagship in its home yard of South Korea, the local media is reporting. If rumors are true, starting July 19th, Koreans will be able to get the Galaxy S5 powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 chip. In comparison, the model currently available in other parts of the world rocks either Snapdragon 801 or Samsung’s own Exynos octa-core SoC. Faster chip aside, this unit will also be able to deliver download speeds of up to 225Mbps, up from 150Mbps SGS5 can “handle” at the moment.

If you’re looking for a QHD screen, we’re not sure what to tell you there. Chances are the LTE-A -enabled Galaxy S5 will keep the full HD display with QHD one coming to the earlier rumored Galaxy F aka Galaxy S5 Prime. Which likely won’t be unveiled before September.

As I’m writing this, we’ve no idea whether this improved Galaxy S5 will also hit some other markets outside of the Korean peninsula. Samsung is probably looking at a few countries where there are LTE-A networks around, Germany being one of them. So yes – we expect to see Sammy bringing this bad boy to Europe’s biggest economy. We’ll, naturally, let you know when we hear something like that…
