Meizu will be officially announcing its next flagship device on September 2nd. The company has turned to Chinese social media service Weibo to share the good news, though we still have to get some of the details confirmed.

According to earlier rumors, the Meizu MX4 will be available in two different versions, one of which will pack a 5.4- or 5.5-inch screen with 2560×1536 pixels resolution, 3GB of RAM, Sony’s 20.7-megapixel rear camera (like the one on the Xperia Z2) and Samsung’s Exynos 5433 Octa chip. The company’s own Flyme OS 4.0 will run the show on top of the Android core.

The second model will be more affordable, boasting a smaller screen with full HD resolution. We may also get 2GB of RAM, along with a camera with lower megapixel count. This unit may go for CNY 2,499, which is the amount that translates into some $406.

Perhaps more important is Meizu’s upcoming Ubuntu Touch phone. At the moment, we’re still not sure whether that device will be unveiled alongside the “regular,” Flyme-based models. We would assume that the underlying hardware will remain largely intact, but you never know. In any case, we should get all the missing details within less than two weeks. Stay tuned…
