The earlier rumored HTC Desire 820 has been officially announced, and just as we’ve expected – it rocks Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC. Said chip comes with no less than eight cores, four of which are clocked at 1.5GHz and another four at 1.0GHz. There’s also a 5.5-inch 720p HD screen, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 / 28mm lens, and a rather impressive 8-megapixel front-facing camera for taking great selfies.

Plus, let’s not forget HTC’s BoomSound dual front speakers (with built-in amplifiers), optional LTE connectivity (in some markets), and a 2,600 mAh battery. Android 4.4 KitKat is running the show with HTC Sense 6 singing on top. And once Android L is out, an update will be released to take full advantage of Snapdragon 615’s 64-bit architecture.

Size wise, the Desire 820 measures 157.7 x 78.74 x 7.74 mm and has a weight of 155 grams. Because it’s part of the Desire, rather than One, series its body is made out of plastic. It still has the ever-sexy unibody design, though.

All in all, what HTC manage to come up with is arguably the sexiest mid-range phone ever. Unfortunately, they failed to mention the price. We do know that the Desire 820 will be available all around the world starting late September with users getting to choose between a number of glossy and matte color versions.

So, any takers?
