Even though Sony has just recently announced the Xperia Z3, the company is already working on the next device in the series. That upcoming model, dubbed Xperia Z4, may be Sony’s first phone to rock a Quad HD display, despite the company’s executives claiming that those extra pixels don’t add value to the users. Though that could be just a way of saying that the Xperia Z3 is perfect as it is.
According to the famed Sony leaker Ricciolo, the Z4 will boast all the top specs, including the fastest chip available at that time. As far as we (don’t) know, that could be the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 which boasts 64-bit architecture. And perhaps, if we’re extra lucky, the Exmor camera will get Optical Image Stabilization capability.
There’s a slight chance that this unit gets unveiled at next year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, though you never know. Perhaps Sony opts to wait a little longer to keep the interest in the Xperia Z3; which has yet to hit carrier portfolios around the world.
In any case, we’re glad to see the Japanese company looking beyond full HD. While we dig the argument that higher resolution doesn’t add significant value on smaller displays, on a 5.5-inch screen – it does make a difference.
