HP keeps making all the wrong moves in the Android eco-system. Instead of launching devices many would want to buy, they are looking for a niche, which is something smaller companies should be doing rather than a giant with HP’s stature.

They are working on a huge tablet that can also work like a monitor as well as an Android-based PC. In case you ever needed a smart monitor or a 17-inch tablet, you’ll know HP has your back covered. Their upcoming HP Slate 17 can do all of those tricks.

But, as I said it, we’re talking about a niche product few will want to buy. Inside, this thing packs Intel’s Celeron N2807 Bay Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, Beats Audio technology, Wi-Fi radio, while that big display can cope with just 1920 x 1080 (full HD) pixels. As part of the deal, you also get an HDMI port, a USB 2.0 port, and Android 4.4 KitKat at the heart of the system.

The HP Slate 17 weighs about 5.4 pounds and its built-in battery can work for up to 5 hours on a single charge. According to Mobile Geeks, HP will start selling its huge tablet / smart monitor in the next few weeks, asking whopping $470 for the benefit. So yes (again), chances are you’ll want to grab some regular tablet as well as a regular monitor and save some cash along the way…
