It looks like Facebook is working on a mobile payments solution of its own that will allow you to send money via Facebook Messenger. With Apple’s Apple Pay rolling out soon and Square currently featuring such abilities in their own app, it’s no surprise that Facebook would take the plunge into mobile payment territory.
Facebook’s payment solution was discovered by iOS developer Andre Aude, who discovered that users of the system will have to link debit cards before sending money, and that PayPal isn’t an option as of yet.
We haven’t heard anything concrete from Facebook yet, but the actuality of Messenger’s payment system looks pretty legit. As always, expect the final version to look and function way differently than what we’re seeing now.
