Honor has quietly launched the Honor Play 80 Plus in China, introducing the first smartphone powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor. The budget device stands out with its massive 7,500mAh battery and 120Hz display, targeting users who prioritize battery life and everyday performance.
The timing of this release is significant as it marks Qualcomm’s continued push into the budget segment with more efficient processors. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, announced in December 2025, represents a notable upgrade for entry-level devices, bringing improved AI capabilities and power efficiency to phones under $310.
The Honor Play 80 Plus features a 6.61-inch TFT LCD screen with 720 x 1604 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display maintains a 20.05:9 aspect ratio and includes eye protection features. The phone runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16, giving budget users access to the latest Android features.
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset uses a 4nm manufacturing process with an octa-core setup. The processor combines two 2.3GHz Cortex-A78 performance cores with six 1.95GHz Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, paired with an Adreno 613 GPU. This configuration focuses on handling daily tasks smoothly while maintaining low battery consumption.
The camera setup includes a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. While not groundbreaking, these specs align with typical budget phone offerings and should handle basic photography needs adequately.
The standout feature remains the 7,500mAh battery, which is unusually large even by current standards. Honor pairs this with 45W fast charging support, addressing one of the main pain points of large batteries. Additional features include:

Pricing in China starts at 1,699 Yuan (approximately $250) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The higher-end model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage costs 2,099 Yuan (roughly $310). The phone is already available in China, though Honor has not announced plans for global availability.
