Samsung has launched its Certified Re-Newed program in India, offering refurbished Galaxy smartphones with the same warranty coverage as new devices. The initiative targets consumers who want premium features without paying full retail prices.

The program includes both flagship and mid-range Galaxy models that undergo comprehensive refurbishment using genuine Samsung parts. Each device comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty and is sold at reduced prices through Samsung’s direct-to-consumer channels.

This move reflects growing consumer acceptance of certified pre-owned devices and Samsung’s push to capture more market share in India’s price-sensitive smartphone segment. The refurbished phone market has expanded rapidly as buyers seek premium features at lower costs, while manufacturers look for ways to extend product lifecycles and reduce electronic waste.

Samsung’s refurbishment process includes detailed inspection, functional testing, and software validation for each device. The company resets all devices to ensure complete data removal and provides the latest software updates to support long-term usability.

“At Samsung, we are focused on expanding access to our technology while maintaining the quality and reliability that consumers expect from Galaxy devices,” said Sumit Walia, Vice President and Head of D2C Business & Corporate Marketing at Samsung India. “The Certified Re-Newed program reflects this approach by offering a trusted pathway to premium experiences at more accessible price points.”

The timing aligns with Samsung’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in India’s competitive smartphone market, where Chinese brands have gained significant ground through aggressive pricing. By offering certified refurbished devices, Samsung can compete more effectively in lower price segments while maintaining its premium brand positioning.

Key features of the Certified Re-Newed program include:

  • Comprehensive in-house refurbishment using genuine Samsung parts
  • Complete data reset and latest software updates
  • One-year manufacturer warranty matching new devices
  • New packaging for all refurbished units
  • Detailed quality inspection and functional testing

The certified refurbished devices will be available starting May 6, 2026, exclusively through Samsung.com and the Samsung Shop app across India. This direct-to-consumer approach allows Samsung to maintain control over the customer experience and pricing while avoiding potential channel conflicts with retail partners selling new devices.

The program also supports Samsung’s sustainability goals by extending device lifecycles and reducing electronic waste. As consumers become more environmentally conscious, certified refurbished programs offer a way for manufacturers to address sustainability concerns while creating new revenue streams from returned or trade-in devices.
