Nuu’s new $250 smartphone packs dual AMOLED displays and 5G connectivity

Nuu has launched its latest affordable 5G smartphone, the B40 5G, in the US market for just $249.99. The device stands out with its dual AMOLED display setup – a feature typically reserved for premium flagship phones.

The secondary display, which Nuu calls the ‘Vista Display,’ measures 1.6 inches and sits alongside the dual rear camera setup. This rear-facing screen offers practical functionality beyond just aesthetics, displaying time, date, charging status, call and message previews, step count, and media playback controls. Users can also use it as a camera viewfinder and shutter button for easier selfie-taking with the main rear cameras.

This move reflects a growing trend in the smartphone industry where manufacturers are bringing premium features down to more affordable price points. Secondary displays were once exclusive to high-end devices like certain Xiaomi Pro models, but Nuu’s implementation shows how competitive the budget 5G market has become. The inclusion of 5G connectivity at this price point also highlights how the technology has matured and become more accessible to mainstream consumers.

The main display spans 6.7 inches with a curved AMOLED panel that outputs 2400 x 1080 resolution. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches peak brightness of 1100 nits, specifications that would have been considered premium just a few years ago. The secondary rear display resolves at 460 x 228 pixels with 500 nits peak brightness.

For photography, the B40 5G includes:

  • 64MP primary rear camera
  • 2MP macro lens
  • 16MP front-facing camera for selfies

The device runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7025 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there’s no option for storage expansion. Power comes from a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.

The phone ships with Android 15 out of the box, though Nuu hasn’t provided details about long-term software support – a common concern with budget smartphone brands. Additional features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.2, and dual SIM support.

The Nuu B40 5G is available exclusively in midnight grey directly from Nuu’s official website. At $249.99, it represents an interesting option for budget-conscious consumers who want modern features like 5G connectivity and the novelty of a secondary display without paying flagship prices.
