Motorola has unveiled its latest mid-range smartphone, the Edge 2026, priced at $600. The device continues the Edge series tradition of ultra-slim design while adding modern features like 30x zoom capability and AI-powered photography.
The Edge 2026 targets consumers looking for premium features without flagship pricing. This segment has become increasingly competitive as manufacturers push advanced camera systems and AI capabilities into more affordable devices.
Design and display
The Edge 2026 maintains Motorola’s focus on thin profiles, measuring 7.22mm thick and weighing just 160.5 grams. While still impressively slim, it’s thicker than the premium Edge 70 (5.9mm) and iPhone Air (5.6mm), reflecting the compromises needed to hit the $600 price point.
The phone includes a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and delivers 13 percent more resolution than standard HD. The smaller screen size makes it more pocket-friendly compared to the 6.7-inch displays common on many current smartphones.
Camera capabilities
Photography is a key focus for the Edge 2026, with a triple camera system that includes:
- 50-megapixel main sensor with 4K video recording
- Ultrawide lens with 122-degree field of view and macro capabilities
- 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 30x zoom
The 30x zoom capability puts the Edge 2026 in competition with more expensive devices, though real-world image quality at maximum zoom typically varies. AI processing helps optimize photos automatically, following the industry trend of computational photography in mid-range devices.
Performance and battery
Inside, the Edge 2026 runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7450 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A RAM Boost feature can temporarily convert available storage into virtual RAM for improved performance during intensive tasks.
Battery life is a standout feature, with Motorola claiming up to 50 hours of use from the 5,000 mAh battery, though actual performance will vary based on usage patterns. The fast charging system can provide a full day’s power in just seven minutes of charging.
Availability and pricing
The Edge 2026 will launch in the US on June 11, available unlocked from Best Buy in olive color. Major carriers including Verizon, AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Spectrum Wireless, and Xfinity Mobile will carry the device. Canadian customers can purchase through Motorola’s website and local carriers.
New Moto Buds 2 earphones
Alongside the smartphone, Motorola also introduced the Moto Buds 2 earphones for $100. The earbuds include:
- Dual driver audio system for enhanced sound depth
- Dolby Atmos support for immersive audio
- Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
- Transparency Mode for environmental awareness
- 11-hour battery life per charge
- Dual Connection for seamless switching between two devices
The Moto Buds 2 will be available in the US starting July 2, positioning them as an affordable alternative to premium earbuds from Apple and Samsung. The dual connection feature addresses a common pain point for users who frequently switch between phone and laptop audio.
