OnePlus is preparing to expand its mid-range lineup in China with two new battery-focused smartphones. The OnePlus Turbo 6X and Turbo 6X Pro are set to launch on June 10th, positioned as affordable alternatives to the existing Turbo 6 series.
The new phones represent OnePlus’s continued push into the competitive mid-range market, where brands like Vivo, Realme, and Xiaomi are battling for dominance. The standout feature here is the massive battery capacity – the Pro model packs an 8,000mAh battery while the standard version includes a 7,000mAh unit. These capacities align with a growing industry trend toward longer-lasting phones, especially in the mid-range segment where users prioritize value and endurance over cutting-edge specs.
OnePlus has scheduled the launch event for 2:30 PM China time (12:00 PM IST) on June 10th. The phones will initially launch only in China, with no confirmation yet about global availability. This China-first approach is typical for OnePlus’s regional variants, which often test market response before potential international rollouts.
The design reveals show distinct approaches for each model. The Turbo 6X Pro features a square camera module similar to the flagship OnePlus 15 series, while the regular Turbo 6X adopts a vertical camera arrangement matching the OnePlus Nord CE6 Lite. The Pro model will be available in a bright orange color option alongside black.
The Turbo 6X Pro is shaping up as the more premium option with several notable specifications:
- 1.5K Samsung AMOLED display with full-brightness DC dimming
- IP66, IP68, and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings
- Military-grade durability certification
- MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Super chipset
- 8,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging
- ColorOS 16 out of the box
The phone will come in three configurations: 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB, available in orange and black colors. The 8,000mAh battery capacity is particularly impressive and should easily provide two days of usage for most users, making it a strong selling point against competitors.
The standard Turbo 6X takes a more budget-conscious approach while still offering substantial battery life. It features an LCD display instead of AMOLED and a 7,000mAh battery. The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Super chipset, which should still provide solid performance for everyday tasks and light gaming in the affordable mid-range segment.
Both phones address a clear market need for longer battery life without premium pricing. The mid-range segment has become increasingly competitive as manufacturers try to offer flagship-like features at accessible prices. Large batteries have become a key differentiator, especially as users rely more heavily on their phones for work, entertainment, and communication throughout the day.
The timing of this launch is strategic, coming as Chinese smartphone brands intensify competition in the domestic market. OnePlus is working to maintain its position against aggressive pricing and feature sets from rivals. The Turbo 6X series appears designed to capture users who want reliable performance and exceptional battery life without paying flagship prices.
For consumers currently using older mid-range phones, the Turbo 6X Pro’s 8,000mAh battery represents a significant upgrade in daily usability. However, the final appeal will depend on pricing, which OnePlus has not yet revealed. The company’s ability to price these phones competitively will determine their success in China’s crowded smartphone market.
