Redmi 17 4G specs, price, and design leaked ahead of launch

Xiaomi’s next budget phone is shaping up nicely, at least on paper. The Redmi 17 4G has had its specifications, price estimates, and design renders reported by Gadgets 360 ahead of any official announcement, giving potential buyers a detailed preview of what to expect.

The leak points to a large 6.9-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is a generous screen size for a phone in this price bracket. Under the hood, the device is expected to run on the MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra chipset, a processor Xiaomi has leaned on before in its entry-level and mid-range lineup.

Budget Android phones have been getting noticeably better over the past couple of years. Brands like Xiaomi are packing bigger screens, faster refresh rates, and capable chips into phones that cost a fraction of what flagships demand. The Redmi 17 4G fits squarely into that trend.

Based on what has leaked so far, here is what the Redmi 17 4G is expected to offer:

  • 6.9-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate
  • MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra processor
  • Design renders showing a flat-edged chassis
  • 4G connectivity, targeting markets where LTE remains dominant

The choice to go with a 4G-only variant is a deliberate one. Xiaomi has consistently offered 4G versions of its Redmi phones in markets like India and parts of Southeast Asia, where 5G adoption is still catching up and buyers prioritize value over network speed. A separate Redmi 17 5G model is also reportedly in the works for other regions.

The Samsung Galaxy A27 and Redmi 17 4G have both cleared certification processes recently, which typically signals a launch is not far off. Certification is often one of the last steps before a phone goes on sale, so an official reveal from Xiaomi could come within weeks.

Pricing details from the leak suggest the Redmi 17 4G will land at a competitive price point, though exact figures have not been confirmed. If Xiaomi prices it aggressively, it could put real pressure on rivals like Samsung’s Galaxy A-series in the sub-$200 segment, a space that continues to attract the bulk of smartphone buyers globally.
