OxygenOS is basically dead. So is Realme UI. And honestly? That’s a bigger deal than most people are treating it. Oppo confirmed last month that all three of its brands, OnePlus, Oppo, and Realme, are moving to ColorOS starting with Android 17. Now the company has expanded the ColorOS 17 closed beta to a wider batch of devices, giving more users a shot at testing the software before it goes public.
In China, Oppo has opened ColorOS 17 beta registrations across a solid lineup of its own hardware. Each device gets just 300 spots, and builds are scheduled to roll out in two batches on August 11 and August 13. The eligible devices include:
- Oppo Find N6 and Find N6 Satellite Edition
- Oppo Find X9 Pro and Find X9 Pro Satellite Edition
- Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Find X9 Ultra Satellite Edition
- Oppo Find X9s Pro and Find X9
- Oppo Pad 5 Pro
- OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15T, and OnePlus Pad 3 Pro
- Realme GT 8 Pro and GT 8 Pro Aston Martin F1 Limited Edition
India is also in the mix. The ColorOS 17 Closed Beta there is already open for the Oppo Find X9 Pro, Oppo Reno 15 Pro, Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini, OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R, and Realme GT 8 Pro. To get in, you’ll need to submit an application before the deadline, pass a qualification quiz, and possibly sign an NDA. Standard beta program stuff, nothing wild.
One thing Oppo is being upfront about: this is an early log build. Bugs are expected. Stability issues are expected. If your phone is your only device, sit this one out and wait for a more polished build or the public beta. That’s good advice worth actually taking seriously.
But here’s why this matters beyond the device list. Oppo is consolidating its entire software operation under one roof. Three brands, one OS. The pitch is that this leads to faster updates, quicker bug fixes, and a more consistent experience whether you’re on a Realme budget phone or a OnePlus flagship. That’s a legitimate goal. OnePlus fans who’ve been loyal to OxygenOS might push back on this, and some already have. Still, from a pure engineering standpoint, maintaining three separate Android skins is expensive and slow. Consolidation makes sense.
As for what ColorOS 17 actually brings, Oppo hasn’t laid out the full feature list yet. But early beta info points to a visual refresh with new lighting animations, glowing edge effects, improved blur elements, redesigned rounded UI components, and smoother transitions across the interface. The update is also expected to bring in the next-generation Xiaobu Next AI assistant, along with Android 17’s core system improvements.
Whether the visual changes justify the loss of OxygenOS is a conversation that’s going to run for a while. But the beta is live, the slots are limited, and if you’re curious, now’s the time to check eligibility and get your application in.
