Honor 700 series leak: 200MP camera and a brand new design

For the last couple of generations, Honor’s digital series has basically looked like an iPhone wearing a disguise. Pastel colors, familiar camera bumps, a vibe straight out of Cupertino. It worked well enough to sell phones, but it wasn’t exactly a confidence-inspiring creative direction. So the news that the Honor 700 series is getting a completely fresh design language is, genuinely, a big deal.

According to a leak from prolific Weibo tipster DigitalChatStation, reported by NokiaMob, the Honor 700 series is expected to arrive before the end of 2026 with a “trendy new design” that steps away from the Apple-adjacent aesthetic the brand has leaned on heavily. The Honor 500 launched with pastel colorways and a camera module that looked suspiciously close to the iPhone Air. The global Honor 600 then doubled down, pulling clear inspiration from the iPhone 17 Pro. Critics noticed. Consumers noticed. And it seems like Honor noticed too.

The bigger context here matters. Honor has been working hard to build a premium reputation outside China since splitting from Huawei. That push requires a distinct identity, not just strong specs. Copying Apple’s homework was a short-term play that undermined the brand’s credibility at exactly the wrong moment. If the 700 series genuinely lands with its own visual personality, that’s a strategic win just as important as any camera upgrade.

And speaking of cameras, the 200MP primary sensor is sticking around. That number has become a signature for the digital series, and Honor clearly isn’t walking it back. What’s more interesting is the suggestion that ARRI’s imaging technology will be part of the package again, potentially pushing computational photography and video quality further than the 600 managed. ARRI collaboration has been a real differentiator for Honor in the video space, and if it carries over meaningfully, that’s worth paying attention to.

The other rumored specs are lighter on specifics but still paint a picture. Here’s what the leak points to:

  • 200MP primary camera sensor, expected to be backed by ARRI imaging solutions
  • A “mid-sized display” suggesting a slight refinement toward better ergonomics compared to previous models
  • A “large battery,” though exact capacity figures haven’t surfaced yet
  • A completely new design language breaking from the iPhone-inspired look of the 500 and 600 series

The mid-sized display detail is interesting because it hints Honor might be reconsidering the screen size arms race. Big displays are fine, but there’s a real appetite right now for phones that are actually comfortable to hold. If Honor is reading that shift correctly, the 700 could find an audience that previous models missed.

Battery capacity is still a question mark. The Honor 600 set a high bar in that department, so whatever the 700 brings, it needs to at least match it. Vague assurances of a “large battery” don’t mean much until we see actual numbers.

A launch window toward the end of 2026 means more concrete details should start leaking within the next few months. Pricing and regional availability are still unknown. But if Honor can back up this fresh design direction with real hardware substance, the 700 series could be the one that finally makes people take the brand seriously as a premium contender rather than an Apple imitator with a big megapixel count.
