A smartwatch brand making smartphones sounds like a stretch, but Fire-Boltt’s new spin-off, Boltt, is actually making a reasonable case for itself. The company launched its first two smartphones in India, the Boltt Evo and Boltt Ace 5G, and they’re aimed squarely at the sub-Rs 20,000 crowd. The starting price is Rs 10,999. And the headline feature isn’t the camera or the battery. It’s clean, bloatware-free software. In 2026, that’s still something worth talking about.
What you’re getting for the money
Both phones share a 6.79-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a centered punch-hole cutout for an 8MP front camera. Peak brightness sits at 600 nits, which is decent enough for indoor and shaded use, though don’t expect miracles in harsh sunlight. The Evo runs on a Unisoc T7250 chip, while the Ace 5G steps up to the Unisoc T8200 for 5G support. Neither chip is going to win benchmarks, but they’re practical picks for everyday use at this price point.
Both phones ship with Android 16 out of the box. That’s a solid start. But the bigger deal here is Circle to Search. Google’s tap-and-search feature has been missing from a lot of budget phones in this range. Competing options like the Lava Shark 2 5G and Virat V1 5G, both launched under Rs 15,000, don’t include it. Boltt does. For someone who uses their phone to look things up constantly, that’s a real, everyday advantage.

Color choices are actually pretty good here. The Evo comes in Sky Blue, Midnight Black, Lavender Bloom, Berry Red, and Arctic White. The Ace 5G adds Burgundy Bliss and Forest Green to most of those options. So you’re not stuck with the usual two boring choices.
Should you actually buy one?
Here’s the honest take. Boltt is a new player in smartphones. No history, no long-term software support track record, and no established service network reputation yet. The company says service availability will be wide from day one, and that matters a lot for a brand nobody’s tested in this space before. So before you pull the trigger, check whether there’s a service center near you. That applies to both models.
But if you’re after a clean Android experience with a big screen, smooth refresh rate, and Circle to Search at under Rs 16,000, Boltt is at least worth a serious look. The budget segment is crowded and unforgiving, and Boltt is walking into it cold. Still, the focus on software cleanliness and running a current version of Android is exactly the right call. If they follow through on after-sales support, this could be a brand worth watching.
