Tecno Spark Go 3 Pro launched in India with IP69 rating and a 120Hz display

An IP69 rating on a phone under Rs 16,000 is not something you see every day. Tecno has launched the Spark Go 3 Pro in India, and instead of chasing 5G or cramming in a flashier chipset, the company went a different direction entirely. It built a budget phone that can take a serious beating.

What you’re actually getting for Rs 15,999

The Spark Go 3 Pro starts at Rs 15,999 for the 4GB + 64GB variant and goes on sale from September 4th. At that price, you get a 120Hz display, which is a genuine win for everyday scrolling and video. The combination of a smooth display and a tough chassis is not a common pairing at this price point, and that’s worth calling out.

The battery is a 5,200mAh cell with 15W charging. Nothing wild, but plenty for a full day of use. And the extras are solid too.

  • Side-mounted fingerprint sensor
  • IR blaster for controlling home appliances
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity
  • USB connectivity

That IP69 rating is the real story here

IP69 is not your standard water resistance rating. It protects against high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, which is well beyond what most budget phones even attempt. Tecno is clearly targeting people who work outdoors, whether that’s delivery riders, people in agricultural settings, or just someone who lives a messier life than the average tech reviewer. Dust, rain, muddy hands, a phone dropped near a sink. These are real problems for real people, and most cheap phones are not built for any of it.

So while competitors at this price are usually fighting over megapixel counts or throwing in a free case, Tecno is making a case for physical reliability. That’s a smart angle, honestly.

But there are real trade-offs to consider

Still, this phone is not for everyone. There’s no 5G here, and the chipset is not going to impress anyone who plays games or runs heavier apps. At this price range, some competing phones do offer 5G and more capable processors, which makes them a smarter long-term buy if you plan to keep the device for three or four years.

The Spark Go 3 Pro is best suited for buyers who need durability first and don’t need bleeding-edge performance. If you’re buying a phone for a parent, for field work, or for someone who is genuinely hard on their devices, this makes a lot of sense. But if you’re a heavy app user or you want 5G future-proofing, you’ll probably find better value elsewhere, even if those phones lack the IP69 protection.

Tecno is not pretending this phone is something it isn’t. And at under Rs 16,000 with that kind of water and dust protection, it doesn’t need to be.
