Two 200MP cameras on a single phone felt excessive just a year ago. OPPO is about to make that look modest. According to well-known leaker Ice Universe, the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max could be the first smartphone ever to pack three 200MP rear cameras, covering the main wide, periscope telephoto, and ultrawide lenses. All three. 200MP each. Yes, really.
This is the kind of leak that sounds like someone made it up, but Ice Universe has a strong track record, and a second trusted tipster flagged the same triple 200MP setup back in May. When two credible sources land on the same outrageous spec, it’s worth taking seriously. The May leak didn’t mention which sensor OPPO would use, but Ice Universe filled that gap, pointing to Samsung’s brand new 200MP ISOCELL HPC sensor. He also described the specs as “almost beyond description,” which is either extreme hype or a genuine sign that this thing is something else entirely.
For context, the current OPPO Find X9 Ultra already has two 200MP cameras, used for the main shooter and one of its periscope telephoto lenses. That phone is, in my opinion, one of the two best camera phones you can buy right now alongside the Vivo X300 Ultra. So OPPO adding a third 200MP sensor to the mix, this time covering the ultrawide slot too, is a meaningful step up rather than a marketing checkbox.
The reported sensor sizes from the May leak are worth noting too. The tipster suggested a 1/1.3-inch main camera, a 1/1.28-inch periscope telephoto unit, and a 1/1.56-inch ultrawide sensor. Those are serious numbers across the board, especially for an ultrawide, which is usually where camera systems cut corners. If those figures hold, this phone won’t just win on megapixels. It could genuinely push image quality across every focal length.
As for timing, the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro launched in October last year, so an October window for the Find X10 Pro Max makes sense. That puts us roughly two months out. And with the OPPO Find X10 Ultra reportedly still in doubt as a real launch, the Pro Max may end up being OPPO’s flagship all the way into Q4 2027, which makes it an even bigger deal for the brand.
So what does this mean for the broader camera phone race? It’s a signal that the megapixel war isn’t over, it’s just entering a new chapter. Brands like Vivo and Xiaomi have pushed high-resolution sensors hard, but a triple 200MP system would put OPPO in a class of its own, at least on paper. The real test is what the processing looks like in real-world shots, because raw resolution means nothing if the software can’t keep up. OPPO’s Hasselblad partnership gives some reason for optimism there.
