Samsung’s Exynos 2700 just posted some serious benchmark numbers

Samsung has had a complicated relationship with its own chips. For years, Exynos flagships underperformed their Snapdragon counterparts, ran hotter, and drained batteries faster. So when early Exynos 2700 benchmark numbers leak and they actually look strong, that’s worth paying attention to.

As reported by Gizmochina, the Exynos 2700 scored 4,328 in single-core and 14,700 in multi-core on Geekbench 6.7.1. Those numbers come from an internal benchmark listing, not a public device test. And yes, there was an earlier Geekbench result from April that looked much weaker, 2,603 single-core and 10,350 multi-core. But that was on an older version of the benchmark software with a less mature chip sample. Comparing the two directly would be misleading, so don’t read too much into the gap.

What’s more interesting than the numbers themselves is the chip architecture behind them. The Exynos 2700 uses a 10-core layout in a 1+4+1+4 configuration. One cluster pairs a single Arm C1-Ultra core with four C1-Pro cores. The other pairs a C2-Ultra with four C2-Pro cores. Mixing two generations of Arm cores like this is a deliberate move. Samsung is clearly trying to balance peak performance with the kind of sustained efficiency that older Exynos chips were notoriously bad at. Whether it actually works in practice is something we won’t know until real-world testing begins.

On the graphics side, the chip is expected to ship with an Xclipse 970 GPU. There’s also a dedicated NPU for on-device AI processing, which matters more than ever given how aggressively Samsung has been pushing Galaxy AI features across its lineup. And with LPDDR6 memory support, the chip should have the bandwidth to handle heavier AI and multitasking workloads without bottlenecks.

The Exynos 2700 is reportedly built on Samsung Foundry’s SF2P 2nm process. That’s a meaningful step forward. Samsung’s 3nm and 4nm nodes had well-documented yield and efficiency problems, so a more refined 2nm process could be exactly what the chip division needs to prove it can compete with TSMC-fabbed silicon.

Samsung is expected to use the Exynos 2700 in three Galaxy S27 models:

  • Galaxy S27
  • Galaxy S27+
  • Galaxy S27 Pro

The bigger picture here is Samsung’s ongoing effort to close the performance gap with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon lineup. In several regions, Samsung ships Exynos variants instead of Snapdragon, which has frustrated buyers who feel like they’re getting a second-tier chip in a flagship-priced phone. If the Exynos 2700 can actually compete, that changes the conversation significantly.

Still, these are early internal numbers on a chip that hasn’t shipped yet. Test results from pre-production hardware can look very different from what ends up in a retail box. The architecture is genuinely interesting and the benchmark scores are encouraging. But the Exynos 2700 has to prove itself in real devices before anyone should get too excited. The Galaxy S27 series is expected early next year, so the wait for real answers isn’t that long.
