Honor’s Watch 6 Pro wants to save your life — and that’s not an exaggeration

Cardiac arrest detection on a smartwatch sounds like a headline grabber. But Honor appears to be taking it seriously. The Watch 6 Pro, set to launch on September 28, will be the first Honor wearable to ship with a cardiac arrest monitoring system built right in. That’s a big deal, and not just as a spec sheet bullet point.

According to Huawei Central, the Watch 6 Pro will use this new system to continuously track heart rate and proactively alert users when something looks dangerously wrong. We’re not talking about a basic heart rate graph you check after a run. This is the watch flagging a potential cardiac emergency in real time, which is a completely different category of health tech.

So why does this matter? Because cardiac arrest kills fast. Minutes matter. If a smartwatch can detect warning signs early and push an alert to the wearer or a family member, that’s not a gimmick. That’s a genuine use case where wearable tech could close the gap between a medical event and getting help. Apple has leaned hard into this space with its ECG features and fall detection. Samsung has followed. Honor jumping in here signals that this kind of proactive health monitoring is becoming the baseline expectation, not a premium add-on.

The Watch 6 Pro is arriving later this month, which means we’re days away from seeing exactly how Honor has implemented this. The key questions are how accurate the detection is, what triggers an alert, and whether it integrates with emergency contacts or local services. Those details will determine if this is a real health tool or a well-marketed feature that sounds impressive and does little.

Still, the timing is smart. The global smartwatch market is more competitive than it’s ever been, and health features are one of the clearest ways brands differentiate. Honor has been pushing hard to establish itself as a serious player post-Huawei split, and adding first-of-its-kind health tech to a flagship wearable is exactly the kind of move that builds credibility.

The Watch 6 Pro is also expected to bring other upgrades across the board. Here’s what the smartwatch is shaping up to include:

  • Cardiac arrest monitoring system with real-time alerts
  • Continuous heart rate tracking
  • Proactive emergency notifications
  • Additional fitness and health tracking features

Pricing and full specs haven’t dropped yet, but the September 28 launch date is confirmed. If Honor sticks the landing on the health monitoring side and keeps the price reasonable, the Watch 6 Pro could be the most interesting thing the brand has put on wrists to date. But we’ll hold the real verdict until the full details are out.
