Your phone rings mid-speech in front of a packed tech conference. The caller ID says the President of the United States. What do you do? If you’re Jensen Huang, you reach into your pocket, pull out a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, unfold the screen, and put Donald Trump on speakerphone without missing a beat. That’s exactly what happened at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles on September 14, and yes, the whole thing was live on stage.
According to Android Headlines, this isn’t even Huang’s first public appearance with a Samsung foldable. Back in May, he was spotted carrying a Galaxy Z Fold 7 during a trip to China. NVIDIA later confirmed that the Z Fold 7 was a personal gift from Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong. So there’s a pattern here, and it’s not subtle.
Nobody confirmed whether the Z Fold 8 was another executive gift or something Huang bought himself. But the relationship between these two companies runs deep. Huang and Lee meet regularly to talk supply chains, high-bandwidth memory chips, and AI infrastructure. They met in San Francisco this past July, and they’re reportedly set to meet again at an industry event in New York later this month. This is not a casual business acquaintance situation.
For Samsung, the timing is almost too good. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 launched in August alongside the Fold 8 Ultra and Flip 8, right as competing foldables are starting to crowd the market. Having the CEO of the most valuable AI company on the planet casually use your device during a live presidential phone call is the kind of organic exposure that no marketing budget can manufacture. It’s real, it’s visible, and it carries weight in exactly the circles Samsung wants to impress.
The NVIDIA and Samsung partnership itself goes back three decades, evolving from graphics hardware into serious AI data center infrastructure. So while the foldable phone angle feels like a fun celebrity sighting, it actually sits inside a much bigger story about two tech giants that are genuinely intertwined. Still, let’s be honest. That one moment on stage probably did more for Samsung’s foldable brand than a dozen polished commercials ever could.
