Motorola just announced the signature 27 at Snapdragon Summit, and it’s already one of the most interesting flagship phones of the year. This is the second device in Motorola’s signature family, and the company is clearly not playing it safe.
The chip doing the heavy lifting
The signature 27 runs on the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, which also made its debut at the same event. So this is a day-one flagship chip in a day-one flagship phone. Motorola says performance feels fast and fluid over time, not just in benchmarks, and the phone uses six antennas to push faster cloud AI speeds. On-device AI, gaming, camera processing — the chip handles all of it, and the early signs look strong.
To keep things cool under pressure, Motorola built in its ArcticMesh cooling system. It uses diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh, and a redesigned 3D vapor chamber. The vapor chamber is 40% larger than the previous generation. That matters because sustained AI tasks and gaming sessions generate real heat, and thermal throttling is the silent killer of flagship performance. Motorola is clearly trying to fix that. And with seven years of OS upgrades promised, this phone is built to last.
Cameras that go way beyond the spec sheet
The camera setup is where this phone gets genuinely exciting. Here’s what Motorola is working with:

The Video Enhancement Engine also sounds genuinely useful — analyzing scenes before and during recording to keep colors natural and accurate, whether you’re at a concert or shooting after dark.
Google Gemini baked right in
The signature 27 has Google Gemini built deep into the experience. You can use Gemini Omni to turn photos or existing footage into polished videos, or use Lyria to generate original music and custom soundtracks. These are not gimmicks buried in a settings menu. Gemini also connects with the apps people already use daily, helping with things like booking dinner or finding event tickets. It’s practical AI, not just a demo.
Audio and design that actually mean something
This is Motorola’s first phone with Audio by Bang and Olufsen, following a multi-year partnership the two companies recently struck. That is a real audio pedigree, and it could push the signature 27 into must-audition territory for anyone who cares about sound.
Design-wise, the phone comes in two finishes: Coal Smoke in Tactical Weave and Capulet Olive in a brushed textile-inspired look. Both are PANTONE-certified. The frame is aluminum with contoured edges, and the camera housing mixes ceramic and brushed aluminum. It looks premium. It feels intentional.
The signature 27 is expected to hit global markets in 2026. Full specs and pricing are still coming, but based on what Motorola has shown so far, this phone is shaping up to be a serious contender.
