A 6,900mAh battery inside a foldable phone. Let that sink in. Most flagship slabs struggle to crack 5,000mAh, and Vivo is somehow squeezing nearly 7,000mAh into a device that folds in half. That single detail tells you a lot about what Vivo is going for with the X Fold 6, and it’s not messing around.
Vivo has announced the global version of the X Fold 6, bringing its premium foldable to international markets after its earlier China debut. Pricing and availability are still market-dependent, but the hardware is confirmed, and it’s a serious package.
Two screens worth caring about
Open the X Fold 6 and you get an 8.02-inch 2K+ LTPO AMOLED inner display with a resolution of 2,504 x 2,312 pixels. Fold it shut and the 6.51-inch cover screen holds its own at 2,528 x 1,120 pixels. Both panels run at an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate, support Dolby Vision, and can hit up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness. That’s not cover-screen-as-an-afterthought territory. That’s two genuinely good displays in one device.
The chipset and software doing the heavy lifting
Under the hood, the X Fold 6 runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, built on a 3nm process. You get up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage depending on which configuration your market gets. So the raw performance is there.
Software is where Vivo is clearly pitching this at professionals. It runs OriginOS 7 Fold on top of Android 17, and the feature list is stacked:
- Multi-Task Workbench and Multi-Split Screen for proper multitasking on the big inner display
- AI Cross-App Drag so you can move content between apps without the usual friction
- AI Meeting Assistant for note-taking and summarizing calls
- AI File Manager and AI Reader Mode for document-heavy workflows
- Jovi AI, Vivo’s own AI agent built into the system
Some of these AI features will land better than others. AI Meeting Assistant is genuinely useful if it works well. AI File Manager sounds like a feature that exists to fill a spec sheet. But the multitasking tools on a foldable this size have real potential.
A camera system built around that 200MP main sensor
The headline camera number is 200 megapixels, and the main sensor comes with OIS and ZEISS T* coating. Alongside it, there’s a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto. Both the inner and cover screens also get 20MP selfie cameras, which is a nice touch since a lot of foldables treat the inner selfie camera as an afterthought. The system supports 4K 60fps Dolby Vision video recording and 100x ZEISS HyperZoom for those moments when you absolutely need to zoom way too far into something.
Why this matters for the foldable market
Foldables are still fighting for mainstream credibility. Samsung has the Galaxy Z Fold series locked in as the default choice for most buyers outside of China, but Vivo is making a strong case that the competition is real. A 200MP camera, a near-7,000mAh battery, and two proper high-brightness displays put the X Fold 6 in a position to genuinely challenge Samsung’s top foldable on paper.
The catch, for now, is that we don’t know what it costs internationally. Vivo says pricing will be confirmed per market, which usually means brace yourself. But if the price lands in a competitive spot, this is a foldable that deserves serious attention. Keep an eye on your local market announcement.
