Part of me was wondering how long it would take to get some classic gaming emulators up and running on the Palm Pre. Guess the answer to that question is less than a week.
Over at PreCentral, member Ha-me3 has reported that he was able to get the Little John PalmOS (LJP) running via the Classic Emulator (1.0). The LJP is an emulator for the old original NES console. While running a game LJP apparently delivered 60 frames-per-second. Solid, no? Also, in order to actually play the ROMs, Ha-me3 had to manually create the tree of folders necessary to get them to work.
Sure, there were a few hoops to jump through here (and there still are many bugs to work out), but I’m sure this is just one of the first reports of vintage gaming on the Pre that we’ll hear about. Look for more progress to be made when version 1.1 of the Classic Emulator drops.
Note: Classic v1.1 should be available very soon. Read more about that here.
