When Engadget first mentioned the Nokia Aeon on October 8th 2006 it didn’t make that many head lines. People said it was cool but they didn’t get it.
Fast forward to Steve Job’s iPhone announcement, and now I’ve seen the Aeon show up on at least 15 of the major sites I read. What is going on?
Nokia’s Vice President of Nseries Computers Pekka Pohjakallio says it best:
We have been preaching the message of converged multimedia in one device, with lots of use cases and a good experience for the whole life of Nseries. And now Apple have come and said basically the same thing, even if they have implemented some things differently.

So there you have it, Apple indirectly caused a spur of interest in Nokia phones. Right now there is only one thing holding them back: The 3D UI. Apple has managed to wow the people, and I’m curious to see what Nokia is working on.
Without any further delay, here is the Nokia Aeon for those who might have missed it. After all it’s only proper a Nokia blog cover it 😉
Nokia has 3 pictures total of this device on their R&D site, feel free to download their ultra high resolution versions.
