iPhone 3GS Launch in Singapore: Lineups a Tad Ridiculous

The iPhone 3GS has now launched in Singapore, and huge crowds are lining up in hopes of grabbing the new offering from Apple. The crowds have been so large in fact, that the first customer reportedly waited in line 11 hours. That’s a bit of a wait. SingTel has also estimated that 1,500 to 2,000 potential customers gathered around their company headquarters this past Friday… with numbers growing to around 3,000 by the end of the night.

Yuen Kuan Moon, SingTel’s executive VP commented on the wait times:

“On average, a customer during the peak period will queue between anywhere for three to four hours”

Thankfully, Apple and iPhone fan Satya Saya went ahead and posted his experience on YouTube for us all to take in. Satya was in the lineup himself, and waited roughly 12 hours. He commented:

“The video shows to what lengths people can go to get a hand on the iPhone 3GS…This queue is 2 hours before the iPhone store closed, and it is quite likely that at least 20% of them would overnight in the queue. I guess the iPhone is worth the wait!”

The folks in Singapore clearly win the award for most iPhone 3GS love. Check out the video above if you haven’t already. That’s a long line!
