I was just having a trawl around the InterWebs when I found a little gold nugget of a review over at Mobile Choice, on the Samsung i8910. As you might remember, this little bad boy is packing serious multimedia prowess in the form of an 8MP camera, and HD video capture/playback!
However it’s the HD bit I’m most interested in – the amount of mobile devices (and by that I include specialist cameras and mini-camcorders) that are now able to record in HD has sky-rocketed of late, and of course you have to wonder even though HD-compliance is in place, how good the quality is…
… well have no fear – apparently in that respect, the i8910 is very good indeed – of course the 3.6″ screen is also pretty helpful in boosting your viewing pleasure!
I’ve been using a Flip Mino HD mini-camcorder recently, and have found that to be pretty darn good (at a budget price-point) with the HD duties – the i8910, one way or another, is another class up in terms of cost – so it will be interesting once we start seeing tons of demo videos recorded on it, as things like colour balance, detail, sharpness, shakiness of the moving image will all be up for assessment.
This week or next week I should have the Toshiba TG01 arriving for review – whilst not HD, it is positioned firmly up there in the smartphone/multimedia/touchscreen space – now if anyone at Samsung wants to seed me am i8910 to test, we could have a shoot-out on our hands!
