NAVIGON MobileNavigator

Almost missed this. We knew Germany-based Navigon is preparing to enter the AppStore from before, and now they have their app called MobileNavigator, readily waiting in the AppStore. Available for $69.99 until August 15th — when the price goes up to $99.99 — Navigon’s app brings full-fledged navigation to your beloved device.

Initially, they are targeting the North American market, but I’ve no doubts they’ll hit local AppStores in Europe in no time (if they already haven’t). Feature wise, MobileNavigator prides itself with:

  • Reality View Pro, which displays 3D views with actual road signs and lane guidance for virtually every highway interchange and exit drivers will encounter.
  • Lane Assistant Pro, which provides drivers with a lane map complete with arrows and actual road geometry.
  • Speed Assistant with adjustable audio-visual warning.
  • Day & Night Mode for map display.
  • Direct Access, which allows navigation to contacts saved in the iPhone’s address book.
  • Branded POIs and POIs along the route.
  • 2D and 3D map view.
  • Automatic switch between portrait and landscape format.
  • Intelligent address entry.
  • Real signpost display.

In a nutshell, if you’ve been waiting for the real navigation solution on the iPhone, Navigon’s offering is certainly worth considering. Be aware, though, that at the moment MobileNavigator lacks real-time traffic updates, which can be a dealbreaker for some. AppStore link is here, and you can also try out the free lite version, prior to clicking the “Buy” button. Or you could check out a demo of the app, which follows after the jump.
