During the first-ever Verizon Developer Community (VDC) Conference, the carrier officially opened virtual doors of its developer portal. Of course, this goes in line with Verizon’s goal to launch its own application store later in the year called V CAST Apps.
Commenting on the new site launch, the company’s CMO, John Stratton, said they value and rely on input from the developer community, and plans to make the process for registering and distributing applications with Verizon “simple, fast and straightforward.” He said V CAST Apps will:
- Offer a simple click-through agreement
- Provide a streamlined testing and certification process with a goal of having applications launched within 14 days of submission
- Give developers the opportunity to set their own prices for applications
- Make it easier to develop for BREW (there’s a separate press release for BREW developers)
In a nutshell, if you’re a developer, Verizon wants you. The new website is located at developer.verizon.com and there you should get all additional details. Good luck!
